When it comes to my make-up bag I don’t really know where to start. It continues to grow and it continues to be a mystery to my family and boyfriend alike – “what does that even do?!” and “haven’t you already got three of those?!” are among the questions I constantly get asked.
Yet, regardless of their beauty ignorance they still know the way to my heart and treat me with everything from brushes, contouring sticks, cleansing water and lime green eye shadow (a practical joke from my sister and mother…they’re so funny!)
So, with my make-up bag bursting at the seams I thought that I would share some of my most precious and loved items with you every month. Whilst outlining products I could not live without, I’ll also give you the low down on my latest additions so that if you’re in any doubt about which blusher to go for, or want a new prezzie for your bday, I’ll hopefully give you all the info you’ll need to prepare your ‘wish list’!
My October Picks:
Hoola by Benefit
I think Hoola has to be the one beauty product that I have never, and will never replace. It’s matte finish means you can use it all over to give you a natural tan all year-round. I apply it on top of my base foundation, before blush (below) and highlight. I also use it at the end of a makeover with a fan brush to enhance my contours!
Although it comes with a small, natural-bristle brush I use my own powder brush as I find the size of the former a little restrictive whilst applying (I like to go all out with my bronzer, especially on the cheek bones!)
However, a huge pro of this product is that it lasts for absolutely ages and is pretty durable for any handbag or clutch on a night out, plus the brush and mirror does mean that you can top up on the go if need be.
As well as this, it is SO affordable and a MUST HAVE. At only £24.50, you can purchase Hoola everywhere including Boots, ASOS and most department stores. If there’s one product to add to your wish list, it has to be this!
‘Dainty’ Mineralize Blush by MAC
This product was added to my collection after I won crazy golf against G last summer – “If you beat me, I’ll buy you any MAC product you want…” were his famous last words. So on the way home from Battersea Park we stopped at MAC on the King’s Road to browse and buy!
Thank goodness for ‘beginner’s luck’ is all I can say, because this product is gorgeous! ‘Dainty’ by name, and ‘dainty’ by look, this pretty pink blush is just the right amount of rouge to add on top of bronzer. It has a slight pearlized shimmer, so if you’re all about the glowing cheekbones then this is the blush for you.
Available in ten shades, this baked mineral powder is super lightweight and builds lightly to create the look you want.
Use on top of your foundation and bronzer base on a night out, or simply apply over a primer for a natural finish.
‘Moon Beach’ Beach Stick by Charlotte Tilbury
I was absolutely craving Charlotte Tilbury’s beach stick at the beginning of summer and it adds absolutely everything to my make-up bag. This luminous, rose-gold, iridescent peach shade reminds you of sunsets, cocktails and the beach – what else could you want?!
Easily blendable this pop of colour brings your face radiance and glow. I apply it on my cheekbones at the very end of a makeover, blending with my fingers or duo-fibre brush. I also use it on my lips on top of pink shades to add an icy shimmer, which I couldn’t find anywhere else.
As a compact product I usually take it with me on the go just incase I’m feeling gloomy and need a little bit of summer to cheer me up!
NEW: Travel Brush Set by Bobbi Brown
Oh. My. Days.
Coming home from a long week at work I found a black Bobbi Brown bag hiding underneath the bedcovers…G you are an absolute dream!
In the bag was a stunning travel brush set in a red faux-leather case with not one, not two…but five brushes!
All essentials, these high-quality brushes are travel-sized with compact handles but full size brush heads to ensure a flawless application.
The set includes a Full Coverage Face Brush for all over cream and powder foundations, blush and bronzers; a Sheer Powder Brush for pressed and loose powders; an Eye Definer Brush for eyeliners and brows; an Ultra Fine Eye Liner Brush for precise eyeliner application and an Eye Shadow Brush for applying and blending colours.
The softness of the brushes, the sexiness of the case and the quality when applying products makes this new addition of my make-up bag a firm favourite.
Christmas has definitely come early for me, but with this set in their Christmas Gift Guide, Bobbi Brown has created the perfect thing to add to your ‘wish list’!
Stay tuned next month for even more products in ‘What’s in My Make-Up Bag: November Edition’…
