My Make-Up Bag: November Edition

With Christmas suddenly around the corner, I’m starting to get in the festive mood. This means that despite dark nights and cold weather, I am spending my evenings and weekends (those that I’m not working) enjoying all of the things London has to offer this winter.

Whilst there have been many long walks in Greenwich Park, of which looking good is not a necessity, I have also been out and about where a little bit of glitz and glam never hurt anyone.

Whether it is drinks with friends in Canary Wharf, roaming around Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park or even preparing for all the Christmas parties that are planned for the upcoming weeks – my make-up routine is at its peak for this season and I have some products that I have definitely been using more frequently this month.

My November Picks:

  1. Ombre Blackstar Colour Fix Cream Eye shadow By Terry

I don’t wear eye shadow on a regular basis as I’m usually one for just whacking on a few layers of mascara. However, I spent a day shadowing a professional make-up artist and watched them create incredible looks with cream based products, and naturally I just had to give it a go.
I bought this gorgeous product in ‘Ombre Mercure’, which is one of a variety of different colours, By Terry, that range from their dark Pearl Black to a pale Blond Opal. It cost me £29.00, but as I use it only when I’m going ‘glam’ it has lasted me a long time and it’s still going strong.
Coming in an easy-to-use applicator pen this product is so simple to use. If I use it all over the lid, I apply it directly, using an eye shadow blender brush afterwards to smooth out the creamy formula. Alternatively, I sometimes use it on top of a smokey eye shadow look, along the lash line, which again I blend using a small brush for that soft focus finish.
Not one of my essential makeup pieces, but if you enjoy experimenting and love going all out with your eyes, try it out!

  1. No Smudge Mascara by Bobbi Brown

The one thing that I really hate after a night out is taking my make-up off. If my skin isn’t squeaky clean when I put my pyjamas on, I feel dirty, clogged up and wakeup feeling grim. Mascara is the main culprit for not wanting to come off. Buuuut, with that said the one thing I really hate before a night out is if my eyelashes aren’t on point!
I was bought Bobbi Brown’s No Smudge Mascara for Christmas last year and I have never used a product like it. Whilst this mascara is long-wearing and waterproof (of which it is SO good at these two things that it almost becomes a downfall!) it defines, curls and lengthens lashes to the max, without smudges, clumps or flakes! It creates dark, full lashes that I believe compete with fake ones, no joke.
I’m always one for building layers when it comes to mascara and this one is no exception – you can create natural to dramatic looks depending on how many coats are applied. But, as many other mascaras fail to do, this brush allows even application for an honestly perfect set of lashes!
At £22.50, I’m afraid ladies that you’re going to have to give it a go.

  1. Eye Shadow x15: Warm Neutral by Mac

I had wanted this eye shadow palette for a long, long time, so a couple of year’s ago for Christmas it definitely trumped every other gift. “My life is now complete” were the exact words I said when I opened the packaging.
As I mentioned previously, I am not a daily wearer of eye shadow but this palette is perfect for both day and evening looks. With 15 warm, neutral shades you can blend endlessly for a variety of finishes whether used wet or dry.
When I first starting using it I had very little technique when it came to blending, creating smokey eyes or experimenting, but these colours allow you to use pretty much any combination, in any way, to look good. There is a colour for every occasion with both shimmery tones to matte textures.
My favourite colours to use are ‘Gingersnap’, a deep rosy pink (which I sometimes use entirely on its own for a pop of colour), ‘Dark Brew’, a deep chocolate with pink pearl (to help create smokier looks), and ‘Creative Copper’, a frosted gold (which I use to finish my eyes for a hint of sparkle!)
My friends are constantly asking to borrow this palette and it is such a classic that I would recommend it as a staple part of any makeup bag.
Brown and Gold are totally the new black…

  1. NEW: Wonderglow by Charlotte Tilbury

There is definitely a buzz around Charlotte Tilbury at the moment, from her online makeup tutorials, to her endless top of the range products (of which all are on my wishlist)!
Recently I was lucky enough to be bought Wonderglow.
Now, for those of you living under a rock, this is totally the new must-have! This face primer is enriched with ingredients to give your complexion an instant glow with an effortlessly dewy look. With ‘matte’ finishes being so last year, this product leaves your skin radiant and sparkling. What more could you want?
Wonderglow can be applied before foundation, or on its own for a relaxed look. Its silky feel allows you to apply it smoothly over your skin and its soft focus hides any imperfections for a flawless finish. Additionally, you can add a small amount of this product on top of foundation to really enhance highlighted areas!

More products to come for my December Edition, so watch this space…
