British Fashion Awards 2017

IMG_9156 (2)The annual British Fashion Awards is a renowned ceremony that is attended by world class celebrities and industry specialists from all over the globe. For the second year running the event took place in the Royal Albert Hall in London, a fitting venue for such a classy evening. With red carpet wrapped around the entire building, strobe lights streaming into the sky and glittering Swarovski advertising decoration, it was definitely a night to remember!

Doors opened at seven o’clock and guests poured in to snap some must-have pictures on the red carpet, buy some fizz for the show and of course, to celeb spot! After spending the day preening myself and having my makeup done at Bobbi Brown I was fashion-awards-ready for a fabulous girls’ night. We took our seats shortly before eight o’clock and we had an incredible view of the entire hall beneath us. With large hanging screens we were able to take in the atmosphere, regardless of not sitting on the ground floor with the likes of Naomi Campbell, Millie Mackintosh and Hailey Baldwin.

The stars were, as always, looking their best and I definitely had some favourites. Adwoa Aboah looked just stunning in a Halpern Studio Swarovski crystal encrusted dress, a Stephen Jones Millinery turban, Louboutin shoes and Solange Azagury-Partidge jewellery. She was absolute goals, turning heads and dropping jaws –  a worthy winner of the British Fashion Council’s Model of the Year 2017.

Selena Gomez also looked gorgeous in her custom Coach embroidered Satin Prairie Dress, that she paired with a white winter shearling coat to battle off London’s December weather. With her new blonde hair and her white leather boots she spiced up this neutral coloured, vintage look with her fierce roots and dark lips. A perfect contrasting combination for this event where everyone’s eyes are on who is wearing what and where being that little bit different is definitely a positive.

Pixie Lott is one of this year’s ‘best dressed’ according to many online articles and there’s no questioning why. She looked ice cool in semi-sheer gown, set off by her naturally curly blonde waves and earth make up. Need I say more…?

Jack Whitehall and Karlie Kloss were the evening’s presenters and other special guests joined them on stage to present the winners of each category. Award after award, more and more incredible people graced the stage and said their bit, thanking their friends, families and colleagues for their hard efforts. It was inspirational to see the faces of those who have been so successful in the fashion industry all under one roof. Every winner was worthy of their title, and if you happen to have missed the announcements here they are…

The night itself was very glamorous and very fun, but the best was yet to come for us when, half way through the show we were invited to a VIP box on the ground floor, metres from where all my idols were sitting. Was this a joke? After much need confirmation we made our way down and had the best seats in the house. Now, I really did think that I was in a dream.

Surrounded by red velvet and privacy curtains we watched the rest of the show in pure luxury. Rita Ora sung ‘Freedom’, Donatella Versace poured her heart out, Adwoa Aboah won Model of the Year and Karlie Kloss changed her outfits after every stint to showcase some of the Designer of the Year nominees’ work. After the last award was handed out and the DJ had set himself up on the end of the stage for the after party, we mingled around our box enjoying complimentary cocktails, fizz, candy floss and popcorn, chatting with Sam Smith and spotting Colin McGregor, Selena Gomez and Charles Jeffrey. We were now in the fashionista circle and quickly got used to bumping into well known stars, dodging security guards and accepting what the Royal Albert Hall had to offer.
It really was an incredible evening and next year definitely has a lot to live up to!
